Valentines

So we have never really been big valentines people, ok well maybe it's just me!! But this year we had fun. The girls each decided to make valentines for their classes. Mylie made super hero lollipops and we stole Autumns idea and Harley made lips and mustaches for her class. They turned out really cute and both girls were really excited about them. Mylie was super excited because this would be the first time she gets to pass out valentines in class. She also has 2 boys that like her and gave her special valentines. Harley has 1 special admirer. A little to young, but what can you do!!!.

Last year Jer decided he was going to heart attack the girls beds so when they got home they would be surprised. Well, he did it again this year. Sorry no pictures, we were too excited about the candy. Jer bought both girls their favorite candies and wrote them notes. I guess a tradition is born, we will be doing this every year!!!

With Jer home I was able to go and do my valentine surprise for the family. I went all over town and got Jer, Harley, Mylie, and Quinn each their favorite thing to eat for dinner. Then came home and put it on fancy plates and we used fancy glasses. Sorry again no pictures. I didn't even think about it until right now. The girls always want to use the fancy glasses, so we finally did. I made a heart shaped cake and we had a really fun dinner.

It was a fun day. Now to ration the candy so they don't eat too much in one day!!!

This last week we had 2 winners in our family. First Harley was part of her schools 200 Club. She got an award because she was being helpful in class and being very unselfish. She was very excited about it, we are too!!!
Mylie also won a contest. Foxboro elementary and Davis district holds a "Reflections" contest every year. Last year and the year before Harley won the contest at the school level, with photography. This year she didn't win, but Mylie won. She painted on canvas a picture of a teddy bear, whale, and duck. The theme was "Diversity Means . . . " and she wrote friends. She won at the school level and last week she brought home a certificate saying she won at the district level and is now headed to region. We are so proud of her. When we get her picture back I will post a picture of it!

New Year, New Goals

Ok so it has been quite a while since our last post. I am going to start posting weekly, it is my new goal!

The new year has been great so far. But the first big exciting news of the year is that Mylie has lost her first tooth!!! It has been loose for a few weeks and she finally let Jer pull it out. She was so excited. I sewed her a tooth pouch so that she could keep her tooth safe under her pillow. The first thing this morning she ran into our room with her dollar! Mylie left a note for the tooth fairy asking to keep her tooth. Harley has always kept her teeth and Mylie wanted to be just like Harley. What a great start to her week, now she will be able to tell everyone at school that it finally came out!

Catch Up

Ok so lets catch up. I was planning on doing it by month, but the rest of the months just got away from me and now it is one week till May, so I think I need to do better.
December was a crazy month. December 4th Harley was baptized. That same day Quinn was blessed. Such an amazing day. Harley was so excited to be baptized. We talked about it alot before and she had 3 really good friends being baptized the same day.
We had so many family and friends there to support her. We have such an amazing family who traveled long distances and short to be with us and to show their love for Harley, you are all wonderful!!!

Then Christmas and traveling to Nampa to be with Jer's family. That is always a great time! Finally new years and back to school for Harley!
Mylie did get to dance in a christmas recital, which just happened to also be on December 4th. That was a busy day! She is in a cheer and tumbling class and loves it. I am not sure I love the cheerleader part, but she loves dancing and is so good at it! She has 2 more performances coming up and she is excited for them.

Seeing Santa

January was pretty boring I think. Not too many exciting things, just everyday stuff. Same with February and March. I guess not exciting for Harley and Mylie, but Quinn is doing so many new fun things.
In he beginning of April Quinn decided she wanted to crawl. So she did. I think she mostly wants to keep up with the girls. Then 3 days after she started to crawl she started pulling herself up on everything and was working on walking. She is not walking on her own, but she is trying hard to. She is not content to just crawl, she needs to pull herself up and walk. She also got her 1st tooth last week. She wont let anyone see it, but you can feel it when she bites on fingers!
So many great milestones that we are excited for her to reach. I think I forgot how exciting it is when babies learn new things.

Oh yeah, Harley and Mylie went fishing with their Aunt and Uncle. They had such a great time and did really well catching fish. This is the only one they got to bring home!

Halloween 2010

Halloween this year was kindof sad. It rained while we were trick or treating. The girls didn't mind, they were with their friend and running from house to house. I hated it. Just standing in the rain and the cold was not my idea of fun! The things we do for our kids!!! Harley this year decided to be a Zombie Cheerleader, but come to find out she really wanted to be, Frankie from monster high. Completely different from the costume I bought, made.
Mylie wanted to be a tiger for the longest time. Then she finally decided to be a purple unicorn. Nobody sells purple unicorn outfits, so we made it. Not the best job, but Jer's face paint adds a ton!

October - South Dakota

So october was an eventful month. It didn't start that way but it ended up being a fun month. About the middle of the month, Harley had a 4 day weekend. We were just planning on staying home. Then Mylie and me were doing a map puzzle and just happened to see Mt Rushmore on the South Dakota piece. I thought, well we have never been there why don't we go. I called my sister who is a teacher and asked if she wanted to go with us. All together is was the Burns 5, my 2 sisters, my brother in law, and my aunt Karen. We drove from here in Utah the 14 hours through Wyoming to South Dakota. It was an ok trip, Quinn did amazingly well and traveled great!
We went to Mt Rushmore and spent about 5 hours there walking around and seeing the museum and how the moutain was formed. Pretty amazing stuff. One thing that was interesting to Jer was they started building a granite vault behind the monument, similar to granite mountain here in Utah that the LDS church stores its family history records in. It was never completed, because they ran out of money.
We also went back later that night and saw the mountain lit up. That was beautiful.
WHile we were in the "black hills" we took the girls panning for gold. They got a few small pieces. I would say about .25 cents worth of gold!!! But they had so much fun I think it was worth the 10.00 to do it!
Our last big thing to do before we heading back to Utah was to take tour in the Jewel Caves Monument. It was an hour or so long tour that only covered about a half mile of the cave, but it seemed like we walked forever. We went down about 300 feet into the cave and walked in and out of rooms. I was slightly scared. But it was amazing. The guide told us a long time ago the whole cave was filled with water. They also said that they measure the wind and how it comes through the cave and by that they can guess how big the cave might be. They have only explored 300 miles of the cave, but estimate that the cave could be 5000 miles long, big. It is amazing to think that there is so much cave unexplored. He said in one part of the cave for 6 ft it is only 8 1/2 inches tall. People go there and do extreme caving and spend 5 days in the cave. I think I would freak out squeezing through a opening 8 1/2 inches tall.
It was a fun quick trip. We are going to do this more often as a family, so if anyone has an suggestions for our next trip, please let me know. We are open to anything. Maybe next time we will hit Yosemite. None of us has ever been there!

Harley is crawling through the 8 1/2 inch height that you have to be able to pass through to extreme explore the cave. Then the 2nd lake we stopped to fish at.

So time has quickly gotten away from me. I can't believe it has been 2 and a half months since Quinn was born. So many things have been happening with us. I will try to do this monthly for now. Hopefully more posts will follow.
September was busy. Harley started school at the end of August and she is loving it. She in now in 2nd grade and she loves her teacher Miss. Isaacs. Recently she has been in trouble by me because she doesn't want to leave class at the end of the day so on my days to pick up her and her friends are usually in her class for 20-25 mins extra after school.
Mylie is doing preschool here at our house. She has a friend in the neighborhood that comes and does preschool with us. Not to brag, but she is a genius!!! We are working on all kinds of things and trying to be crafty. She loves it. I have them go to the door, ring the bell, and answer I answer it and welcome them to school. Mylie likes feeling like she is going somewhere to school.
Quinn is continuing to grow. I love the newborn cuddle stage, but I love that she now smiles and interacts and wants to grab at things. All we need now if for her to giggle!

Lumpy!

So I am writing this, typing with one hand, holding lumpy and hoping the other 2 are not downstairs being naughty!! So the story and her real name. Jazz keeps saying she hopes the nickname Lumpy doesn't stick. The funny thing is I can't call her anything but Lumpy!
So here is her real information. Quinn Malin Burns born 8-9-10 at 1:38pm. 6lbs 14 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. The whole thing, from when they broke my water to her being born was only 2 and a half hours. That part was really nice considering Harley was born 3 days after starting to have contractions and Mylie was born 10 hours later.
We went into see the midwife the week before and she said we were dilated to a 4. She sent me home and told me that she would see me next monday if I didn't go into labor on my own that week and would start me then. Well, it didn't happen that week, which is probably a good thing because I needed to be in Primary to help. So we went in on Monday and she said we were at a 6 so we should go to the hospital and she would meet us there after her 2 other appointments. We got to the hospital, checked in, got settled, and the midwife came and broke my water at 11am.
The anesthesiologist came in about 1130 and gave me an epidural. And then 2 hours later we were pushing and 10 pushes later Lumpy was born.
Both girls really love their new sister. Always asking to hold her and to take care of her. They want to change diapers, just not the poopy ones! It's been a week now and it is great. Other then the extreme lack of sleep and her always being hungry, we are great. That's her story, enjoy the pictures.

The sisters! They love holding her. Harley thinks its amazing when she can get Lumpy to stop crying. They both sing her a song they learned on Sponge Bob and surprisingly enough it immediately calms her down and she looks around for the girls. Its really cute.

Forgive the pictures of me. I tried to look amazing after just having a baby!! Hahaha.

She is so tiny in her ginormous car seat. We got a convertible car seat so we didn't have to buy multiple car seats now and later and she is so stinkin' tiny in it.

Soccer

Harley loves playing soccer. She just finished up with her 2nd season. She hasn't decided if she wants to keep up with it or try something new. This summer she will be dancing and so will Mylie, so we will see if she wants to keep dancing through the fall or go back to soccer. Below is a few pics and videos of Harley playing soccer. Enjoy!

What we have been doing!

So it has been way too long. Since Harleys Birthday we have done so many things that I have not posted about. I will work on getting better about that. Here are a few of the things we have been doing the past few months.

Christmas 2009, of course
It was a fun time. We try and keep our little families christmas on the small side, focusing on remembering Jesus and not doing a lot of presents. I try and make things for the girls every year. This year I made marker holders for church, I Spy Bags, and a doll for them that somewhat looks like Harley and Mylie. There 1 big present was Harleys video camera and Mylie got a train set. Harley loves showing off and making up dances and things so the camera is very useful for her. Mylie has been asking for a train set and a dinosaur. So we got her the train and my mom got her the Dino. Uncle Gabe even built her the best train table and she is loving it!

We finally took Mylie to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. She loves all things Dinos and We had a Saturday we could finally take her. The girls both loved the Dinos and Mylie loved looking at all of the fossils. They especially loved the sand pit and the water table. We had so much fun!

There were 2 weddings so far this year! My sister Jaime got married to Tom and Jer's sister Lex married Wade! It was so great to have them both get married. We are looking forward to the big party Jaime and Tom will be having this summer to celebrate their marriage.

Jer is keeping busy at work. He is an amazing worker and is doing a fantastic job at work. I am busy taking pictures. I have a wedding next week I am doing and a few family pictures to take. Also enjoying being pregnant again. It took a while to get pregnant this time, so we are very grateful to be blessed with a baby. Harley is finishing up with 1st grade. She is reading very well, not really liking homework, but we are trying. Mylie is being Mylie. We are at home most days just playing with friends. She tells me she is bored if she doesn't have something going on in her life.

Harley and Jer's Birthday

I am a little late posting these pics. Sorry. We had a little family party on Nov. 29th for Harley and Jeremiah's birthdays. It was great. Harley got some fun presents as well as presents that have a lot of meaning.

When Harley goes to my parents house she always wants to draw clothes for people. So my mom got her a project runway design studio so she can draw clothes all the time!

Harley has loved writing sentences and stories in school and at home so Jer and I got her a journal that she is now writing in. Hopefully this will be something she will continue to do for her life.

2 months ago when my grandpa died, while cleaning out his house, my mom found a small hymn book that belonged to my grandma who died about 6 years ago. It had her name embossed on it and my mom thought Harley would love it. So he had Harley's name embossed right above my grandma's name.

She also got lots of fun things to play with. To bad it is now snowing and there is no sidewalk to use the chalk on!!!

This is the cake my sister made for Harley. My sister, Robin, always make the girls birthday cakes for them.

We love books in our house and we are always reading. Harley loves the Fancy Nancy books so she got 2 of them and a few other books.

At Harley's school this year the did a Reflections contest. You could enter in 5 different catagorys. Harley chose photography, not sure why!!! The above picture is the one that she submitted to be judged. And she won. Out of the whole 1st grade, she won. Her picture is now going to District to be judged against the winners from all the schools in Davis school district. We will see what happens with that. She is so supper excited to have one and I think the picture is pretty cool. She didn't get any help from me. I just followed her around to make sure she didn't drop my camera, but other then that she took 100 pics and decided this one was her favorite. She is very talented!

These are all the winners from her school. Not too many considering they had 200 entrys this year for the contest. Harley is in front in her yellow Taylor Swift tshirt.

Halloween 2009

Halloween this year started out with a parade at school and a party in Harley's classroom. The parade was fun. There were so many parents there to support their kids. The little sisters even got involved and dressed up for the parade. These are the girls in the neighborhood who are mylie's age and she loves playing with all of them!

This is Harley's teacher. She is the best teacher, Harley loves her. Their class party was after the parade., right before lunch. I don't know if anyone ate their lunch that day after all the candy and doughnuts!Mylie was able to participate in the party with Harley. They played the mummy game and Mylie got to get wrapped up. She was so good standing there thinking she was big.

Halloween day we started getting the girls ready. Mylie's hair didn't stand up the way we hoped, but the blue really added to her costume. She loved the blue hair and wanted to keep looking at herself in the mirror.

Jer did Harley's makeup. She kept itching her face and it smeared a little, but we took the make up with us trick or treating just in case she needed a fix. He did such an amazing job with the makeup. Good thing he was here, I am not very talented when I comes to face painting.

Mylie wanted to balance on things like harley was doing.

I love Harleys reaction in this picture. There were a lot of houses that didn't answer their doors. We went out kind of early, but we figured that since it was saturday most people would be home. They did get a lot of candy and were very tired and wanted to be done by 7:30 so all in all it was a great nite!

"New" Shirt

I have been reading alot of blogs recently that re-purpose clothes. They always turn out really cute, so I have started finding things to re-purpose. I made a dress for Harley out of one of Jeremiahs button up shirts that he has not worn in a while. It turned out really cute!

So I had a shirt I got last year when Mervyns was going out of business for 1.20. Great deal, the only problem was it was tight is the sleeves. It was a long sleeve shirt and around the elbow it was too tight. But I bought it thinking I was going to shorten the sleeves or something. Well, 1 year later I finally did! I think it looks good. I even put a pleat in the sleeve to give it a little more detail. What do you think??? Don't worry, the sleeves aren't 2 lengths, its just the way its hanging on the window seal.!!!

Lowes

Lowes has a really neat program for kids on saturdays where they can go in and build something for free. Today me and the girls went there and build a drum for each of them. They had so much fun hammering and wearing their aprons. It was really fun. I only had my fingers hammered 3 times. Not bad for our first try at it. So here is a picture of the drum Mylie made. Harley's is the same, now they are going to paint them!

Firsts

August 24th was Harley's first day of 1st grade. Needless to say, she is getting big and growing so fast. I can't believe she is in 1st grade and going to turn 7 in a few months. She was so super excited to go to school. Me not so much. She will be in school all day long. I miss having her home, but I know that she would much rather be at school with her friends then have to hang out with mom all day. Now just need to find things for me and Mylie to do!!!

2 days after school started Harley also had her first soccer game of the year. She loves playing soccer and is actually quite good, just to brag a little. It's a little more competitive then last year so she is really enjoying herself. She says she always wants to play soccer, but also be a cheerleader, so we will see when she gets older which one wins out. My vote is for soccer! And no they are not called Bees or anything associated, Wasps, Hornets, Yellowjackets. Their team is called the Lady Tigers. Tigers have stripes, maybe not yellow and black, but hey its more original then Bees!

Amazing dribbling skills!

Mylie and I have just been hanging out, playing with friends and trying to decide on a color to paint the walls of our house. We have narrowed it down to 2, but there is one that I think looks better. I can take pictures, but I can't figure out how to decorate my house. We will probably figure it out just when Jer thinks we should move again, which he promised won't be till Harley is in Junior High, so you see how long it might take to get everything done! I'll keep you all posted on our progress.

Ok so sorry I have been few and far between with the posts. We have been really busy the last few weeks and its only going to get busier. So, just a little recap.
4th of July was a blast. Jeremiah's work had a big weekend party at Bear Lake. I have never been there before and it was great. They rented boats, which we got our own to play on the whole weekend, and wave runners. We all stayed in the biggest cabin I had ever seen. Bigger then Grandpa Millars, if you can imagine that. The girls had so much fun, riding on the wave runners, also in the intertube pulled behind the boat. We stayed on the beach part of day 2 which was great because the girls really wanted to make sand castles.
Right before we left for Bear Lake I had a wedding to take pictures for. Jazz's husband, Aaron's sister. It was a great wedding and dinner. So much personality and style to the dinner. You can check out a few bridal pictures on my photo blog.
When we got back from Bear Lake on Monday the 6th, me and the girls had just enough time to rest, do laundry, clean the house a little before we left for Denver on Wednesday with my sister Robin. She is a major Atlanta Braves fan and since there are no major league teams in Utah we took a trip to denver to see the game. It was pretty fun. A very long drive, but the game was good. Up until the 8th inning when the Rockies scored 2 times to win the game. Oh well.
We took the girls to the Nature and Science museum, and to the Aquarium in Denver. It was a lot of fun. We were going to stop in Evanston and get some "fun" fireworks for the 24th, but I missed to turnoff and being an hour away from home was too tempting to turn around, so we will try and get up there again soon.
Then finally, 2 days after we got home from Denver I was sustained as the new Primary President. It wouldn't be so overwhelming except for the fact the ward is a week old and there is nothing in the building. I have no teachers, nursery leaders, piano player, manuals, rolls, booklets, toys for the nursery, nothing. So my big plug is if you have any nursery age toys and want to donate them I would love to have them. So my task this week on top of putting in a backyard and spring cleaning my house is to fill 9 teaching jobs with subs, find 9 nursery leaders, 1 nursery coordinator, 2 counselors, 1 secretary, a chorister and pianist, all by thursday, hopefully.
So needless to say, we are a little busy and will be for a while. I will try and post pictures of our trips to Bear Lake and Denver soon. Please stay tuned.

Tribute

June 26th my cousin in law, Brett Sterns, was killed in Colorado. He is a firefighter for the BLM, and was out doing training exercises with a group of other firefighters. They were cutting down trees and clearing brush and a tree fell on him, killing him. He was a great guy. Always happy and loving. He married my cousin Joy about 2 years ago and they were great together. I got the opportunity to take their engagement pictures and they were so in love. He will be missed.

DISNEYLAND

Needless to say, we had so much fun at Disneyland. The girls loved it and I think I was having more fun most of the time then they were. We got to California Thursday afternoon and decided to go to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner and just spend time at Downtown Disney instead of trying to go to Disneyland. The girls also wanted to go swimming at the hotel so we did that too.
Friday we went to Disneyland and stayed mostly in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Because we had 4 days we decided to break up the park instead of trying to rush around and see everything all in one day.
The girls loved all the rides. Dumbo, Tea Cups, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and the Monorail we among the favorites. Surprisingly the Mattorhorn was Mylies favorite ride to go on. She kept asking to go on it again and again to see the Yetti that lives in the mountain. Harley didn't like it so much, but still went on it for Mylie. They loved driving the cars in Autotopia and the new Nemo Submarine ride was a favorite. Besides the Haunted Mansion, I don't think there was a ride they didn't like. Harley was really scared on the Haunted Mansion and Mylie thought it was funny, go figure.
We were able to go into Toon Town early one day, which was so much fun. We saw a show that Mickey and gang put on and got to ride on the rides with no wait. Gadgets Go Coaster was so fun for the girls. It's just a little roller coaster, but they get enough of a thrill to make it exciting, but short enough not to scare them too much. We got to meet all the characters, except Donald Duck. We had to track him down on our last day there to finally get his autograph. He is one hard duck to find!!!
California Adventure park was great. Not too many rides for Mylie, but the ones we did get on were amazing. I highly recommend Toy Story Midway Mania. It is such a great ride. It's a 4-D ride. While you wear 3D glasses you are riding in a car and playing midway games, like ring toss and baseball throw. It was so much fun. That was the longest line we had to wait in which was probably 25-30 min. Not too bad for Disneyland. Harley's Favorite ride in California Adventure was the whitewater raft ride, Grizzly Run or Grizzly Rapids. Her and Jer went on it 2 times, because their was no line and the convinced me to go. They were not too wet so I did. Needless to say I was in the front every drop and got soaked. Not so fun, but seeing Harley laugh and giggle the whole time was worth the wet jeans.
We did so many things and had a blast. We are hoping to go again soon. The only negative, Pirates of the Carribean was closed. That is always my favorite ride. I had to go by myself on Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain, nobody wanted to go with me. We did have such a great time together. It was sad when we got back to have to go back to "normal". I will post the pictures in slide shows when I get them all off my card and Jer's phone. But will post them before the day is over.

Trevor and April Bridals

Trevor and April asked me to take their bridal pictures yesterday. We went to the Capitol and the Memory Grove. We had so much fun. Trevor and April are great. Can't wait for the wedding. After all this time it finally happened. No we are not pregnant, we are taking the girls to Disneyland!!! We have been trying for the past 6 months to get there, but Jer's schedule isn't the best, but I finally bought the tickets, booked the hotel and now we are going. The girls are so excited and have a countdown chart hanging in the kitchen. We are leaving next week so I will post pictures when we get back.

Disney On Ice

Disney on Ice came here to Utah with their Mickey and Minnie Travel adventures. Mylie won tickets from on of the radio stations here, for having a cute pictures, so we were able to take the girls. We wanted it to be a surprise so we didn't tell them. It was at the Energy Solutions Arena, which hosts the Jazz games. Harley was complaining because Jer kept telling them we were going to a Jazz game. She didn't really get it until we walked in and she read the signs on the tables that said Disney on Ice. They were really excited. Mylie loves Mickey and Minnie. She didn't move the whole time. They were both mesmerized. We had such a great time watch the Lion King, Ariel, Lilo and Stitch all on Ice.

Mylies favorite, Tinkerbell. Yes we have watched the new movie about 50 times!

I just got back from shooting a wedding in California and the week before had a wedding here in Utah. Jeremiah and the girls went to idaho to watch Abraham win the Idaho State Basketball Tournament. So I made this announcement for Abe. Its a pretty simple design, just wanted to get some opinions about what everyone thinks. If there is something I should change or what. Last fall when we were in Nampa for Jazz's wedding I took 13 seniors pictures and am contacting them to see if they want something similar.

1st snow

So finally after waiting and checking to make sure snow clothes fit, we had our first decent snow fall. There wasn't very much, and since these pictures I think we now have about 2 feet of snow outside, but this was the first snow fall of the season. (that stuck). So of course we had to go play in it. Mylie hates getting on her snow clothes, but once we are out there she has a lot of fun. We made a small sad snowman that fell apart soon after we took his picture. Harley put his head and only his head on the window ledge and make 3 more heads to keep it company. It was great.

Thanksgiving

We went to Nampa this year for Thanksgiving. It was at Bryan and Jude's house and we all had so much fun. And since Jazz was around I had to have her do my hair. Besides Harleys birthday and 4 hours of day after shopping things were kind of calm. Mylie did let Lex straighten her hair. She looked so cute with straight hair. She would flip her hair around to feel it move. It doesn't move like that when it is curly.

Catching Up Harleys 3 Parties

It always seems like the end of the year is super busy. With Harleys and Jers birthdays and Thanksgiving then Christmas. There are a lot of parties and presents. So hopefully these next few posts will catch everything up. So I'll start with Harley's and Jer's birthday. We went to Wheeler Farms for their family party. If you who are in Utah have never been, it is a fun and free place to take kids. There are lots of farm animals to see and touch. The girls had so much fun, Harley and Mylie loved the little pigs.

Party #2 was in Nampa. We went to Nampa to spend Thanksgiving with the Burn's. Noah wanted to take Harley to Chuck E Cheese for her birthday so that is where we headed on Saturday. The kids had so much fun. Mylie wasn't scared of Chuckie, I thought she might be, but she was good with him. Noah, Harley, and Mylie had so much fun playing the games. I think we stayed there for 2 hours just playing. Ever since Harley was 1 Jer has gotten her a little chocolate cake with a butterfly on it. So every year Jer has to get the same cake. Its become a fun thing with Jer and Harley.

Party #3 was with Harley's friends. She has so many friends. Our neighborhood is so great, there are so many kids Harley and Mylies age that we never have a day where there isn't someone to play with. It was an "Girls Only" + Dad party. When the girls got here they each made their own personal pizza, rolling out the dough and putting on their own toppings. They had so much fun with it. Its interesting to see what people like on their pizza. I have worked for many years in the "Pizza Industry" and there always seems to be something that surprises my about people and their pizza. While those were baking, we played games. Their favorite is called "4 corners". It is crazy how much energy 8 little girls have. They do love to scream.
After dinner we painted and stamped on flowers that hang on the wall. They each got their own flower and got to take it home. Why we picked 2 very messy activities, I will never know. Presents and cake were next. The girls had so much fun.

Harley worked hard for 2 weeks to earn her Halloween outfit. She had decided to be Sharpay from High School Musical. So we found the outfit and hung it just out of reach so she could see everyday what she was earning and work hard to get eat. Needless to say, she worked on her manners and attitude for 2 weeks and got her outfit. She was Sharpay for Halloween. Mylie still fit into her monkey outfit from last year, so again she was a monkey. They were a cute pair.

Carving Pumpkins

This is the pumpkin we grew in our garden this year. Not quite 1000 lbs. Maybe next year!

We waited until thursday to carve our pumpkins. It was so nice outside, 75 degrees so we were outside carving. I decided it was better to make a mess outside then on the kitchen floor. Jer did most of the carving and cleaning out of the pumpkins. What a great guy!!! Mylie decided to "paint" her pumpkin and Harley wanted a vampire pumpkin. Harley also had a halloween party at school that me and Mylie got to help with. They played games and did face painting. Mylie needed to have her face painted to and the nice lady was more then happy to do it for her.

We were lucky enough to be able to spend 4th of July with Jers family in Spokane. It was so nice and so much fun to have all of us in one house and to spend time together. It is rare when all of the brothers and sisters are together and Gabe and Heather were so nice to let us come and invade their house for a week. I have so many pictures from 4th of July they are probably going to have to be in a slideshow if I can figure that out. I will post a few of my favorites and then figure out the slide show thing. We did so many fun things. Noah brought up his slip and slide and Gabe and Heather have a pool. So needless to say those were the two things that the kids loved doing. They also have horses and to this day Mylie always says, "sit on Sisco, Gabes horse". I can't believe she remembers the name of the horse. We also got the chance to go to the lake and play in the water for a day. I didn't get in the lake water. There is just something about dead fish floating in the water that grosses me out enough that I refused to get in. A little bit of a disappointment to Harley and Jer, but I just couldn't do it. Fireworks are illegal in Spokane County so we went to watch the fireworks that they put on on the lake. Their weren't as many as I hoped but I was cool to see them shot off the lake. Needless to say with Jazz getting engaged and spending time with family it was a great week. We also got to go back through Idaho, Nampa, and see Grandpa Millar. He has the best garden. I hope someday to have a garden half as good as that.

Around here I don't think we could ever just have a Birth DAY. It seems that Harleys and Mylies birthdays stretch over a week or more. It started today with a package from Nama Pam. We have to walk down to the other end of the street and around the corner to get our mail and the whole way back mylie kept saying, "Mylies Birthday, cake, blow out the candles. A present for me". It was so funny. I have to say the candy in the package was a huge hit. Also the toys. Sorry Lex, but the clothes are cute, but they are just clothes. Give her 15 more years when clothes will be everything to her. These pictures are her opening her presents from Nama Pam.

Lost A Tooth

2 weeks ago Harley came up to me and said, "Mom, I have a tooth coming in, I can feel it". I thought, no you don't. But sure enough her bottom front tooth was poking out of her gums. The bad news was that her front baby teeth hadn't come out yet. So we went in to see the dentist who told us just to wiggle the two front teeth and they will come out. So for two weeks Harley wiggled and wiggled, and it was finally wiggly enough to come out. She is so happy that the tooth fairy came to her house and gave her a gold dollar coin.
She was also excited to take her tooth to school for show and tell. The first one in her class to lose a tooth. We didn't think you started lossing teeth this early, she is only 5. But I guess anything is possible. So I am sure we will post again when the other tooth finally comes out. Sorry for the gross pictures, Harley really wanted to show everyone her tooth.

Ok, so most of you know I pretend to be a photographer. I really enjoy it, but I think Harley and Mylie are done being models. We finally had a nice day last sunday to go to Temple Square and take spring pictures of the girls. Alot turned out great. I think they wanted to play in the water more than take pictures but what can you do. I have been using photoshop to edit some pictures and have found great "actions" to help with the editing. Here are some of the pictures I took with normal color and some "fixed" up a bit. Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think of the difference between the two. Which one looks better.

Joyfully Overwhelmed

Our ward has just gotten so big, that for the last 2 months the Bishop has been waiting for word from Salt Lake that the ward could be split. 2 weeks ago it finally was. They held a special stake conference to show us all the new boundries. The bad thing was that all of our presdiencies, Young Men and Women, Relif Society, Elders Quroum, High Priests, Sunday School and a counselar in the Bishopric were all now in the other ward. So our ward only had a Primary President and 1st counselar which was good because I am the CTR 5 teacher and Jeremiah is the Ward Clerk. So we thought we weren't going to be affected at all.
Until the executive secretary called and said that he wanted to meet with Me and Jeremiah. I thought great, Jer is getting a calling and I can continue to teach my 5 year olds. We meet in the Bishops office and sat down and talked with him about nothing important for about 10 mins then he looked directly at me and said we want to call you to serve in the Primary Presdiency. I was more the shocked, very overwhelmed. As long as I can remember I have always been a teacher in the Primary, once in the Young Women, but mostly in the primary. So yesterday I was sustained and set apart and now I have my first meeting with the Primary President tomorrow to take about things. Everything President Uhkdorf said in conference about being Joyfully overwhelmed is me right now. Especially since the Bishop said they are just preparing me to serve as Stake Primary Presdient then on to General Primary President. He said that jokingly, but who knows. I may be the one speaking in conference in about 20 years!!!!
I will keep you all posted about my adventures figuring out how to be in charge of the whole primary. Just pray for me.

Biggest Doughnut Ever

Ok, so Winegars, a local grocery store, sells the biggest doughnuts I have ever seen. Once or twice a month we take the girls on a saturday morning and they get to buy a doughnut. They think it is the greatest thing that the doughnuts are bigger then their heads. They also are really good tasting. So next time anyone is in town and wants to try them, let us know.

Purple Snowman

As you all can tell I haven't cleaned off my memory card in a while so now I am going through all the pictures. Harley said we needed to post this one. Its her favorite. We were outside when we had snow and we built a snowman. Of Course he needed to have some color on him so I got a spray bottle filled it up with colored water and let harley color her snowman. He has a purple mohawk and boots. His shirt is also purple. Mylie thought the purple snow was supposed to taste like our grape snowcones so all she wanted to do was eat the snow.

Easter is Early

Well we decided since Easter is early this year that we would start doing things early. We decorated eggs thursday night and had a neighborhood easter egg hunt friday morning. We are going to do easter baskets on saturday and try to help Harley and Mylie remember what Easter is really about. Mylie thinks eggs and Harley thinks candy and Jesus. But can't remeber what about Jesus. So Sudnay will be a teaching day. So the pictures are our attempts at coloring eggs and not ourselves and then the egg hunt. Well maybe just the egg hunt for now, I think the other pictures are on my moms camera.

The day of rejoicing has finally arrived...

Well its official. As of 5:00 pm Monday February 11th we officially are in possession of the keys to our brand new home! YEAH! Almost one year later, and barely surviving the wave that has been the real estate market and one mortgage company after another going under, we were finally able to make the numbers stick long enough to come out with our name on the title. So first thing bright and early Tuesday morning I will be taking the day off from work and we will begin moving our little pile of old, well traveled stuff into our new home that will make our little pile of stuff seem even littler and older, but that's ok we couldn't be happier to have a few extra rooms to just stretch out and make carpet angels in. So I'm going to bed with a few more gray hairs a couple more wrinkles under my eyes, and a huge sigh of relief that I don't have to argue and negotiate with Realtors, underwriters, lenders, etc. anymore. Poor Kara I'm going to be snoring so much tonight she probably won't sleep a wink! I'll post pictures soon, just wanted you all to know we are still kicking and the party details will be coming out within the week, stay tuned...

During our trip to Nampa we went to Mike Bueses(spelling????) dairy farm to take the kids out to see cows. He told us he has 25000 baby cows on the farm. All Jer could say was Holy Cow. There were a lot of the younger babies in their own pens and Mylie loved walking along the row of 50 pens and letting eat of the cows lick her hand. She thought it was the best thing ever. Noah let some of them suck on his fingers. Harley was a little scared of the cows. She wouldn't let any of them touch her. She did finally at the end of the day milk a cow. That was a big deal for her. We walked around the farm and learned how they feed that many babies all at the same time. We learned about the ear tags, and then how they milk the cows. It was fun. We spent about 3 hours out at the farm and the kids loved it. I think NOah and Harleys favorite part was riding on the 4 wheeler and in the front loader. The only bad part was staying to watch a baby being born and it was born dead. Harley and Noah were a little tramatized by that. They didn't understand why the baby died.

Grandpa got a piece of chocolate too!

Jeremiah and I and the girls spent our christmas this year in Nampa. We were able to be there for the big party at Grandpa Millars house, which sadly is getting smaller every year. We had a great dinner and then the skits. Which turned out to be Harley singing "Chirstmas Bells" and "I want a Hippopatamus for Chirstmas" and Jazz and Noah singing a duet. It turned out to be a great time. Jaime had a fun game, the Candy Bar game, I think is what it is called. Pretty much you sit in a circle, roll dice, try to get doubles, then as fast as you can, put on a scarf, hat and gloves. When that is done you unwrap a candy bar with spoons and then eat the candy bar. Trevor was the winner, or loser, because he got stuck eating more then half of the 1/2 pound candy bar. 20 minutes later he was still trying to get the chocolate out of his mouth.

Even first thing in the morning they still look good!

Christmas morning was great, with the Burn's in mostly matching pjs. Jazz and Lex matched, me and Jer matched, Harley and Noah matched. Mylie was her own person with Dora jammies, but I think Abe would have matched her if we could of found dora jammies big enough for him! Harley got a real guitar so she can play like Taylor Swift, she is a country singer. Now she wants glitter all over the guitar. Mylie got babies that had binkies so her day was packed taking out binkies and putting them back in the babies mouths.

It was a great day and pretty much wore out all of the adults especially nama and grandpa!

The House

Well things are moving along with our house. Monday we will hopefully be having our final walk through if everything is fixed by then. There have been a few set backs, but things are now moving along. The most recent things to be done are the counters in the kitchen and bathrooms. They also put in the shower walls in the master bathroom. The faucets were put in after I took these pictures. The appliances were also put in the same day they did the counter tops. Jer picked these counters because of the sink. The sink sits below the counter with no rim and Jer said he wanted that because you could push things into the sink easier. Everything is mostly done. Just a lot of touch ups and a few more things to fix. The grass was put in and the sprinklers. Jer isn't to happy with the way they layed the sod or the layout of the sprinklers, so when we move in those will have to be fixed if they won't fix them before.

Halloween 2007

For the longest time Harley couldn't decide what she wanted to be for Halloween. She was torn between a witch and a 50's girl, once she figured out what that was. So we went back and forth for a few weeks until she finally decided to be a 50's girl. When that decision lasted for a week straight without changing back I went to the fabric store, found a pattern, and made her costume. Mylies costume was simple. She was a monkey because that was the warmest outfit that I could find for her and knowing we aren't in California where it is 90 degrees, she needed something warm. We had a trunk or treat in the ward. Mylie was just excited to be out and follow Harley and learn to do what she was doing. Halloween night we went trick or treating with my cousins. SInce Harley is the oldest she was excited to go door to door, the younger ones say the first few pieces of candy and then wanted to sit down and eat those not caring much about walking to other houses. We did have a great time though. Now Harley has a dress up outfit to go with her princess dresses and if Mylie doesn't grow too much this next year she will have a costume for next year. If she does, we have a monkey outfit if anyone wants to use it. :0)!!

The House

Our house is moving along surprisingly fast. Faster than I ever expected. This past week they fixed all of the stucco problems, put on the brick, installed all of the siding, laid the flooring and installed the cabinets. We have had a few problems that they are fixing, like half of the cabinet doors didn't match the other half. They looked the same, but some had a distressing on them we didn't order and do not like and the other half are the way we wanted them. So they are going to come back and replace the doors we don't like. We have a great building supervisor who is doing an amazing job making sure everything is done right and making sure it is what we wanted. So attached are a few pictures of the cabinets and the finished outside.

Pumpkin Patch

So I have come to realize that in Davis County there are not too many pumpkin patches. Everyone seems to be getting their pumpkins from the super market. So for last weeks playgroup we all decided to find one and take the kids to it. The best part about the 1 patch that we found is they do a lot with the local elementary schools so there was a ton of things for the kids to do and it was all free, not the pumpkins. There were two mazes, one for little kids, and one for bigger kids. There was wagons to pull and a house to go in and play. They had so much fun running through out the pumpkins. Harley wanted to stay in the maze. When she did come out to find a pumpkin she walked up to the first one she saw, said "I want this one. Can I go back to the maze now?" So me and Mylie went to pick a pumpkin, but all she wanted to do was sit down and play in the dirt. It was left to me to find a pumpkin, so I picked one I liked and 6 tiny ones to paint black and make into spiders. We did have a fun day.

Mylie has found a new favorite. Sitting in the fridge. Or freezer, which ever happens to be open when she walks into the kitchen. She just sits there happy as can be. I think if we let her she would sit there most of the day.

The Giant Pumpkin

Last Saturday me and the girls went to see the giant pumpkin weigh in. Needless to say the pumpkins were huge. The winning pumpkin was 988 lbs. I think or something close to that. Mylie looked so small compared to those huge pumpkins. There was also a giant watermelon. Harley asked if we could buy it and make juice out of it. I talked with a guy who grew a 400lb pumpkin and asked him his secret, so with what I learned maybe we can grow a huge pumpkin next year and enter it into the contest.

Latest on our House

Well they finally got the first layer of stucco on our house. I don't remember picking these exact colors, but Jeremiah likes them, so I guess this is what is staying. Today, thursday Oct. 18th they are supposed to be starting painting the inside of the house, but there is a few things that need to be fixed before they can do that so we will see when that will happen.

Okay so if Angie is doing this blog thing, I think I will sit down without Jer's help and figure this out. He told me that this is now my project. So here it goes. I thought I was doing good with the Facebook thing, now we are all doing something new. We are not doing much just impatiently waiting for our house to finish. It really hasn't taken that long, its just we need to have our own space back. Sunday since it was still nice weather outside we went up into the bountiful foothills and found a really nice background to take family pictures. Here are just a few of my favorites, I don't think you all want to look through 130 pictures. Enjoy.

So the house is moving along. Last time I went there with the girls the moldings and baseboards, doors and shelves were being installed. Hopefully soon they will paint the stucco or whatever they do so I can remember what color I picked for the house. I will go to the house soon and take more pictures to update. We are supposed to have our final walk through and close on Nov 19, happy birthday Jer. So everyone plan on working for thanksgiving.
